Who’s Your Dorm?
A random survey reveals how buildings build personalities
In the video above, students share thoughts about the personalities of their residences.
Andrea DeVito chose to live in Warren Towers because it’s close to her classes at the College of Arts & Sciences and she knew she’d meet lots of freshmen. “I really like the fact that there’s always people around,” says DeVito (CAS’13). “I’m never bored.”
She’s not, however, a big fan of the communal bathrooms.
Conor Glover (CAS’13) likes the “outdoorsy” and community feel of West Campus and his view of the soccer field. Plus, he considers the food to be best on campus. “I’ve eaten at Warren, I’ve eaten at Towers,” he says. “They just don’t compare.”
But the long walk to class? Not so great.
Ask students in West Campus to sum up their home away from home, and they’re likely to boast about the campus feel or the dining hall’s burritos. Warren Towers denizens boast too, though for different reasons: friendliness, good communal spaces, central location. And if a hint of competitiveness comes through, it’s clearly good-natured.
So while Boston University doesn’t have a classic quad, surrounded by brick dorms with a church spire rising over an open green, it does have something many schools don’t: urban diversity.

Haha. “Boston University doesn’t have a classic quad” but it sure does have the worst quads ever in Warren Towers. I don’t think I know anyone who lived in a quad and was satisfied with it. Worst place to live on campus: a quad in Warren.
Who's Your Dorm?
Maybe, because I am a BU student, I just don’t get it. “Who is your dorm?” “Who has your dorm?” Maye it should read “Whose your dorm?” So then it’s “Of whom is your dorm?” Or, “Of which is your dorm?” Maybe this is a dyslexic reference to a Tony Danza sitcom. Are the writers and editors old enough to get that reference? Is the target audience old enough to get that reference? This English business is just too hard. Or maybe this is just another BU FAIL?

I’m pretty sure the title is referencing “Who’s your daddy?” Although this colloquial phrase is used in a number of situations, song lyrics, and show titles, it was also used in reference to the Red Sox player David Ortiz. “Who’s your Papi” is a familiar phrase for Bostonians, so I believe it is a perfectly acceptable title for this piece. I think the fail here is your inability to recognize a cultural allusion.
Who's Your Dorm?
If you watch the video, you’ll note that the possessive of “Who’s your dorm” is referring to the fact that a variety of students are likening their dorm to people, from Jack Nicholson to Lady Gaga. My dorm is like Morgan Freeman. That’s who my dorm is.
When I look at Warren Towers, I see Dustin Hoffman as Ratso Rizzo. I look at West Campus and it’s Gene Hackman in French Connection.

Yeah but the editors of BU Today don’t look young enough to make the Who’s Your Daddy reference ironic http://www.bu.edu/today/about-us … and they’re old enough that they may think it’s cool. Which it isn’t. Dorms are whats. Not whos.
Warren Towers = Pamela Anderson.
Everyone has spent some time inside it, and everyone has regretted it … or gotten some sort of fungus.

My South End dorm, for which I can’t ever lock the door, is unquestionably Lindsay Lohan. Loud, stylish, a little dangerous, and always open!
True about the fungus
A caveat to anyone who will be staying in Warren this year: They began replacing windows last semester but only finished C Tower. A and B still had the old windows last I was there, and they leak something awful when it rains, so check the weather and keep your stuff away from them accordingly.
Also, expect to be hit with lung crippling respiratory infections a few weeks after it rains, when all the carpets and fan units (or whatever broken machines are under the windows) have been overrun by mold and mildew.
Quad
Haha: By quad they mean quadrangle, not 4 person dorm room.
This is an interesting video ! I’ve never lived in Warren Towers, but some friends of mine did, and it doesn’t seem too bad ! But yeah West Campus is certainly much better and i loved my couple of years there.
