  1. Kudos to the University to hiring someone from a similar (perhaps more successful?) school who brings a lot to the table. It’s also fantastic to see the University defy the past of the academy and elevate another women into an executive position. Bravo!

  2. Welcome aboard Dr. Morrison! For all its similarity to USC, you might notice one glaring difference: our football team. I hope this hire represents an admission that John Silber’s decision to cancel the football program and siphon all athletic funding to the hockey team was simply wrong. Academically, in Boston alone we play 4th or 5th fiddle to Harvard, MIT, BC and Tufts–all of them smaller than us and all which manage to field a wide range of varsity athletics, including intercollegiate football. Please bring your experience at USC to bear on restoring BU football!

  3. Perhaps USC can schedule a game with BC at Alumni Stadium in the near future and bring The Trojan Marching Band with them parading on Comm Ave and perform either at Marsh Plaza or Government Center. That will be heard all over Boston and Cambridge.

Dr. Morrison knows the feeling when TMB is playing.

She brings a lot of baggage to the job. It took decades for ‘SC to reach its present ranking from a football school to where it is now. BU is on its way to become great!

  4. Congratulations, Dr. Morrison! I attended BU as a freshman in 2005-2006 and absolutely loved it. During that time I realized what I wanted to pursue, however, and transferred to USC — where I took your husband, Lawford Anderson’s geology class! BU is so lucky to be getting you both.

Having lived my entire life in Southern California before moving to Boston in 2005, let me say the climate adjustment is doable. If you have to leave, Boston is an amazing place to go. Best of luck to you and the family. Fight On!
