In his latest book, War, Sebastian Junger chronicles 15 months in the life of a U.S. Army platoon in Afghanistan. Tonight, he speaks about the book at the Boston Public Library.

War recounts a year-plus of camaraderie, combat, and, very often, painful boredom in the Korengal Valley. Junger also codirected a film about the platoon, Restrepo, which won the best documentary prize at Sundance; it opens in Boston July 2.

Junger, whose other books include The Perfect Storm and A Death in Belmont, discussed his newest last month on The Daily Show.

Junger’s talk is free and takes place at 6 p.m. tonight, June 8, at the library’s Rabb Lecture Hall, 700 Boylston St., Copley Square, Boston.
