There are 7 comments on Villanova’s Associate Head Coach Will Lead Terriers Men’s Basketball

  1. I wonder how much this is going to cost? I am glad that BU is taking care of their “champion” basketball team, but what about using the one million dollars in pensions that are required to pay off the last coach, and how ever much this coach will cost, towards grants and aid for students.

  2. It’s an investment. A good athletic program is part of what makes student life special. How do you think the hockey team got to where it is now? And surely you can’t deny that hockey contributes to the quality of life students get here at BU.

  3. If the above commenter knew anything about college basketball they would know that successful programs pay for themselves ten-fold. What does 1 million dollars pay for? Not even 20 students for a school like BU, where if you have a good basketball team with an amazing arena like agannis and a good coach and recruiter, you can make enormous profits that will be put back into the university.

IF, and I know with BU basketball’s track record that is a big if, but IF basketball profits pay for a new library cause MUGAR sucks and is clearly under-funded, we’ll see who is talking then.

Think long term before you jump on the people faced with these choices.

  4. This is a great pickup for BU. Obviously, I think that Tony Jones would have been a better pickup, but he couldn’t turn down the $$ increase that TN was offering (ex NBA player, enthusiastic, african american = recruits). On the other hand, I really enjoy the way Jay Wright carries himself, and the style of play he plugs through at ‘Nova. Jay had some great things to say about Pat Chambers and basically said it would be stupid to turn down the BU job. Scottie Reynolds who is among the best PG in the country said that he is the player he is today because of chambers. When reynolds is in the NBA I am sure that he, as well as other past players will have no problem plugging BU for Chambers. And to those complaining about salary, aren’t you tired of going to a bush league athletic school. I mean I love BU hockey, and I value my education, but it is always fun to get excited about your alma mater and the America East bball tourney and College Hockey don’t exactly make you want to jump (except for off a cliff)

  5. With a new coach from a pretty big basketball school (kind of), what are the chances tha we will actually take basketball seriously?

I think it is dumb that BU puts all its focus and energy in hockey. Imagine if BU entered the NCAA tourney and did well! That would be way more popular the NCAA for hockey. Agree?

With that said, and with a new coach…do you think we will have scouts that recruit big talent? If this happens, and again a big doubtful IF, then BU basketball has the potential to make it big.

    Thoughts?
