At 7:40 p.m. Thursday night, Chris Jordan breathes a sigh of relief — Bemidji State University is out of commission.
“I didn’t want to have the Cinderella story in front of us,” says Jordan (COM’09).
After a nail-biting second half in the evening’s second game, which saw the BU Terriers give up two goals to Vermont, Jason Lawrence (MET’09) drops a lifesaving rebound into the net with minutes left to go. Belinda Smith (SED’09) is visibly upset.
“So, I’m still shaking a little bit after the second period,” she says. “We definitely needed that power play goal in the last few minutes. This is Hockey East we’re talking about — it’s far from over.”
The rest, according to BU hockey fans, is almost history. But not quite — there’s still Saturday.
