  1. I’m a native Long Islander and was a member of the Symphonic Choir when Falling from a Height was performed.
I can’t describe to anyone the hurt I experienced having to sing these words, having to recount one of the darkest details of 9/11, the event that crippled my area, that took fathers, mothers, uncles, aunts, etc from many, no, most of my friends.
This piece is not a tribute to those who died. It’s a documentary…and I don’t know what to think about that.

  2. We are so fortunate to have a composer who can create music that is both deeply rooted in tradition yet whose voice calls the listener to new and profoundly revealing places. Richard Cornell’s work “Falling from a Height” deserves a place in the canon.

  3. I really like this – the beginning of the song really sets the mood for when the rest of the orchestra and vocals start to chime in. Excellent work :)
