Into and Out of First Night
Tunes and times to end 2009 and start 2010
December 31, 2009
Boston’s countdown to the New Year doesn’t happen in one place. All over the city, First Night ends 2009 with a parade, music, art, and fireworks, a tradition that starts the year right. You can get into all the events with a First Night button for $18 ($15 if you order online), which supports the private nonprofit organization that orchestrates the party every year. But if you can’t snag a button, there are plenty of free outdoor events to choose from.
Boston’s The Fatal Flaw will perform at the Boston Common’s Parkman Bandstand from 10 p.m. to midnight. Take the Green Line to Boylston or Park Street stations. At Copley Square, Black Taxi performs from 10 p.m. to midnight. Take the Green Line to Copley Square station.
January 2, 2010
Swing into 2010 with more free music, this time with locals Ursa Major and Danielle Doyle. They perform at Whitehaus, 10 Seaverns Ave., Jamaica Plain. The show is part of Jamaica Plains’ Whitehaus Family Records free events lineup.
