A View from the Bridge, Arthur Miller’s iconic play about a family living in Brooklyn in the 1950s, comes to life at the Student Theater at Agganis Arena this weekend.

Stage Troupe, the University’s oldest and largest extracurricular performing arts group for undergraduates not majoring in theater, presents the play, about the family of a Brooklyn longshoreman. Eddie Carbone lives with his wife, Beatrice, and niece, Catherine. Their lives are thrown into turmoil after two of Beatrice's cousins come from Italy illegally to work on the waterfront, and one of them develops a relationship with Catherine.

Michael Gomez (CAS’10), who directs the show along with Kelsey Lidsky (COM’10), says A View from the Bridge has all the drama you can hope for in a play. “The story is a modern Greek tragedy about a man who is flawed,” he says.

“Stage Troupe has managed to put together a production that will not easily be forgotten,” says Jenn Ficarra (CGS’09, COM’11), an assistant producer of the show.

Performances of A View from the Bridge are on Thursday, November 5, Friday, November 6, and Saturday, November 7, at 8 p.m., at the Student Theater at Agganis Arena, 925 Commonwealth Ave. Tickets are $6, $5 for Stage Troupe members, and are available at the George Sherman Union, 775 Commonwealth Ave.
