Women Fall to Harvard in Beanpot
Terriers score lone goal in 3-1 loss
The Boston University women’s hockey team got to the final game of the Beanpot Tournament with a win over local rivals Boston College last week, but the momentum wasn’t enough to carry them to a championship over the top-rated team in the country. The Terriers lost to Harvard, 3-1, in last night’s Beanpot championship game, played on the team’s home ice at Walter Brown Arena.
The Crimson, currently ranked number one in the country, were up 2-0 in the second period, when Jonnie Bloemers (CGS’08) scored her sixth goal of the year and made it a one-goal game. But Harvard’s Sarah Wilson scored on a rebound, bringing the score to 3-1 as the teams headed into the scoreless third period. The Crimson outshot the Terriers 37-24.
The Crimson last brought the Beanpot home in 2005, with a 6-1 win over BC; in 2007 the two teams met again in the final, with the Eagles winning, 2-0.
