There are 2 comments on Why Do We Sleep?

  1. Bravo to those who have discovered the need to respect the earth. Now what about the animals. I have 2 questions. First are you answering a life or death question? And second why not use humans and leave these poor animals alone?

  2. When one is going to study the necessity of sleep not only humans should be involved. Taking it even a step further – do plants sleep? Or is there’s simply a response to the Sun or lack there of? Why do some people need 6 hrs sleep where as optimum for another is 8 hours? Does the sleep cycle prevent this or augment that in humans, animals and plants? Or not? Going without sleep for 2 weeks has been known to lead to death and too much sleep leads to longer awakening periods. As smaller organisms learning to survive in pools of amino proteins is this “down time” lending itself from this period of evolution and no longer required – or is it now for some purpose that’s the same or changed as development occurs? Humanities ability to lighten up the night why are we still so very dependent on this function?
