Lead guitarist and singer Jamison Passuite (CAS’07) puts the Handsome Jack experience this way: “We play rock and roll music with such vicious ferocity so as to send shivers down the spine of any hapless young scallywag who happens upon our intoxicating sound!”
Hailing from Buffalo, N.Y., the take-no-prisoners foursome will play an 18-plus show at TT the Bear’s Place in Cambridge on Friday, February 29, along with Township, KidNapKin, and Chris Warren of Viva Viva.

Pirate-speak aside, Handome Jack has been racking up impressive reviews for its debut album, Heatseeker, released this past summer. Buffalo’s ArtVoice writes that the band “brandishes a jagged edge of skuzzy blooze and overdriven garage rock with a lethal threat backed up by a dual-guitar attack. Handsome Jack seem bent not on being the tightest or slickest band but the one who delivers the biggest riffs along with a sinister, snotty sneer and that certain thing which Iggy Pop once called the ‘shake appeal.’” The band’s influences include MC5, ZZ Top, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, the Who, the Beatles, and Bob Dylan.
Handsome Jack takes the stage Friday, February 29, at 10 p.m. at TT the Bear’s Place, 10 Brookline St., Cambridge. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance at TT’s the Bear’s Place or through its Web site. Call 617-492-BEAR for more information.
