Paparazzi is a rock band with punk sensibilities, according to guitarist and vocalist Demitri Swan.
“Our songs are often more complex than what most would consider punk,” says Swan (COM’06). “However, I believe that we still possess the raw energy of the genre.”
Paparazzi, which plans to record its debut album this winter, plays O’Brien’s Pub in Allston on Saturday, January 26, at 9 p.m. Band members also include Billy Nichols (CAS’06) on vocals and guitarist Mike Czorniak, who began his college career at BU but later transferred.
“Although our influences are seemingly limitless, we all really love bands like Hot Snakes, Les Savy Fav, the Wipers, and Rites of Spring,” Swan says. “I think those influences, along with a heap full of others, are most noticed when seeing us play live.”
Paparazzi will open for Rahim and share the stage with Pretty & Nice and A Passing Feeling, both of which also include BU alums.
O’Brien’s is located at 3 Harvard Ave., Allston. Tickets are $7 for the 21-and-over show. Call 617-782-6245 for more information.
