There are 5 comments on Day Tripping: 12 Hours in Ogunquit, Maine

  1. Hi,
One can have a car free day trip to Ogunquit (and Wells and Kennebunkport too). Amtrak goes to Wells, Maine and each train (the Downeaster) is met by a trolley that connects to the Ogunquit Trolley or one that would take you to Kennebunkport too. So the $ saved on gas/rental car could extend the “day” trip longer. Downeaster also goes to Old Orchard Beach – a bit further north but a unique beach destination.
    Have fun!

  2. I really like the idea for this feature because I’m all about exploring the greater Boston area. However, I think it is a little misleading to recommend day trips to places only accessible by rental cars. A large portion of BU Today’s readers are undergraduates, but you must be over the age of 25 to rent a car. This eliminates a lot of the options for anyone who’s younger. I’d like to know more places accessible by the commuter rail or MBTA bus line. I recently took the 441 bus to Marblehead (which was great!), so I know it’s possible. Keep articles like this one coming, though.
