Peace in Poetry

In the video above, poet, playwright, and activist Sonia Sanchez performs her poem “Peace.” She was a special guest at this year’s Martin Luther King, Jr., Day celebration, Ode to the Common People: A Celebration of the Life of Dr. Martin Luther King.

The author of more than a dozen books of poetry, Sanchez is the recipient of an American Book Award for her collection Homegirls and Handgrenades (White Pine Press, 2007), as well as a National Endowment for the Arts Award and a Pew Fellowship in the Arts.

Sanchez has donated her papers to the Howard Gotlieb Archival Research Center at BU.
