The story behind StoryCorps

StoryCorps creator Dave Isay talks about his project, in Boston this week

Dave Isay, StoryCorps founder

StoryCorps, a nationwide project that invites ordinary people to record their stories and stories of their loved ones, was founded in 2003 by Dave Isay with a single recording booth in Grand Central Station. Now, three years later, more than 8,000 stories have been recorded and broadcast on National Public Radio.

This week StoryCorps brings its mobile recording booth to Boston. It will be located outside the Boston Public Library until October 15 and move to City Hall Plaza until October 20. To hear some of the extraordinary stories from ordinary people, visit StoryCorps.
