BMC physicians profiled in America’s Top Doctors

The School of Medicine is well represented in the fourth edition of America’s Top Doctors, a recent publication of Castle Connolly Ltd. The book, one of the nation’s leading sources for identifying the best doctors, lists 18 Boston Medical Center doctors.

The 4,700 U.S. physicians were selected based on surveys of more than 230,000 physicians and screened by a physician-directed research team.

Listed by specialties, they are:

Cardiovascular disease — Gary Balady, MED professor of medicine, specializing in preventive cardiology

Dermatology — Barbara Gilchrest, MED professor and chairman of the dermatology department, specializing in melanoma, photoaging, and skin cancer

Gastroenterology — Michael Wolfe, MED professor of medicine, chief of gastroenterology at BMC, specializing in gastroduodenal ulcers

Interventional cardiology — Alice Jacobs, MED professor of medicine, specializing in cardiac catheterization

Maternal and fetal medicine — Linda Heffner, MED professor and chairman of obstetrics and gynecology, specializing in advanced maternal age

Nephrology — David Salant, MED professor of medicine, chief of renal nephrology at BMC, specializing in kidney disease and lupus nephritis

Neurological surgery — Jules Nazzaro, MED assistant professor of neurosurgery, specializing in movement disorders, Parkinson’s disease, and stereotactic radiosurgery

Neurology — Carlos Kase, MED professor and chairman of the neurology department, specializing in seizure disorders and stroke

Neuroradiology — Alexander Norbash, MED professor and chairman of the radiology department, specializing in cerebral aneurysm, interventional neuroradiology, and kyphoplasty
