Summer BUS Service begin on Monday, which means that 30-minute service will be provided throughout the day (7:00AM – 11:00PM).
The BUS is being rerouted and will travel down Albany Street, to Malden Street and on to Washington Street to avoid street construction in the area.
The BUS service is currently operating normally.
Cambridge Police Department announced various road closures beginning before the morning rush hour on Wednesday, Apr. 24 for the memorial service of MIT Officer Sean Collier at Noon. This service is only open to members of law enforcement and the MIT community with valid MIT Ids.
Road Closures:
• Vassar St: between Audrey St. and Mass. Ave. Wednesday, Apr. 24 at 6 a.m.
• Mass. Ave: from Albany St. toward Boston Wednesday, Apr. 24 at 7 a.m.
• Memorial Drive: between Mass. Ave. and B.U. Bridge Wednesday, Apr. 24 at 12 a.m.
• Mass. Ave. Bridge into Cambridge: Wednesday, Apr. 24, at 7 a.m.
These road closures are going to have a major impact on traffic in the city. Police are asking residents to plan ahead, seek alternate routes, and use public transportation whenever possible.
ALL roads and bridges will be open to pedestrian and bicycle traffic EXCEPT FOR Memorial Drive between Massachusetts Ave. and the B.U. Bridge.
We have been coordinating with our partners at the MBTA to minimize disruptions to bus routes in the area.
We are confident that the operations will be complete and all roads reopened to vehicular traffic by 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24.
Further updates about road closures and other traffic issues will be posted on the Cambridge Police Department’s website at www.CambridgePolice.org. Information can also be found by following @CambridgePolice on Twitter.
Late Night (CRC only) BUS service resumes tonight (4/20). Weekday BUS resumes Monday morning (4/22). Regular schedules will be followed.
All BUS services are cancelled today due to travel advisories related to the police search for the second suspect in the Boston Marathon bombing. The Weekday and Late Night (CRC only) services are cancelled. Please monitor BU Today at www.bu.edu/today.
Traffic on Massachutetts Avenue is extremely heavy this morning with travel delays of 20 – 30 minutes despite Police presence at many of its intersections.
Travel on a portion of Massachusetts Avenue is reduced to one lane following yesterday’s incidents. BUS service will be delayed on that section of its Weekday route. Service delays should therefore be expected until normal traffic flow is restored.
There will be no Weekday BUS service on Marathon Monday, April 15th.
The Late Night (CRC only) service will operate in accord with its regular schedule.
The BUS services are currently following their published schedules and normal service can be expected.
