Changes for Agganis Arena Stop – 7/28/11

Thursday, July 28th, 2011

Greetings!

On Monday, August 1st, the BUS stop currently located at the corner of Harry Agganis Way and Commonwealth Avenue will be moved to the main entrance of the student residence 33 Harry Agganis Way, which is located at the other end of the street and directly across from Nickerson Field. We believe this change will address the difficulty in differentiating between in-service and out-of-service buses as well as the lack of shelter at the current stop.

In-services buses will approach the new stop location from Commonwealth Avenue by turning right on to Harry Agganis. After passengers board at 33 Harry Agganis the BUS will continue behind the Arena to Buick Street, continuing on to the Amory Street stop. Out-of-service shuttles will be parked across from 33 Harry Agganis Way against the Nickerson fence facing Commonwealth Avenue.

The overhang on the front of the building will provide passengers improved shelter from the elements. We hope that those who regularly use the Agganis stop with be positively benefited by these changes.

All the best!

Please note that beginning August 1, 2011 the first inbound stop will be 33 Harry Agganis Way. Harry Agganis Way and Commonwealth Avenue will not longer be used.

The BUS welcomes a new partner!

Boston University Parking  & Transportation Services has partnership with Academy Bus to provide its campus shuttle services. Academy began providing service in mid-June with new vehicles that feature low floors, large windows and a new look.  The initial feedback regarding the changes has been extremely positive previously.

As we get closer to the beginning of the Fall semester expect to see: more prominent BU branding on the vehicles, testing of larger “articulated” buses with even greater capacity, and service updates via Twitter, Facebook, and email.

If you haven’t ridden the BUS lately, you just don’t know what you’re missing!

Use the feedback form and tell us what you think!
