Pop-up Blocker – Mac OS X

Allowing Vista in Firefox

1. Launch Firefox from your dock.
   
2. Click Firefox in the main menu at the top of your screen.
3. Click the Preferences item on the drop-down menu.
   
4. Click the Content icon.
   
5. Ensure that the check box labeled Block pop-up windows is checked.
6. Click the Exceptions button located to the right.
   
7. In the Address of website text box, type vista.bu.edu
8. Click the Allow button.
9. In the Address of website text box, type bu.wimba.com
10. Click the Allow button.
11. In the Address of website text box, type sas.elluminate.com
12. Click the Allow button.
    
13. Close this Allowed Sites – Popups window.
14. Close the Firefox Preferences… window.
15. Proceed to the Java settings.

Allowing Vista in Safari

1. Launch Safari from your dock.
   
2. Click Safari in the main menu at the top of your screen.
3. Click the Preferences… item in the drop-down list.
   
4. Click the Security icon in the menu.
   
5. Ensure that Block pop-up windows is NOT checked.
   
6. Proceed to the Java settings.

When not using Blackboard Vista, Safari users will want to enable the pop-up blocker for safer browsing. Alternately, you may want to use Firefox with pop-ups allowed for your Blackboard Vista class and Safari with Block pop-up windows enabled for all other web browsing.
