Install and setup Firefox – Windows
Below are the instructions for installing and setting up the Firefox browser for Blackboard Vista users running the Windows operating system. We recommend using Firefox to access Blackboard Vista as we have consistently found that Firefox users encounter fewer issues with Blackboard Vista than those who use other browsers.
Three steps to installing and setting up Firefox
Step #1: Download and install Firefox
- Go to Firefox’s website and click on the green Firefox Free Download button.

- Save the Firefox Setup # .exe setup file to your computer’s desktop for easy access.
- Double-click the Firefox Setup #.exe file.
- Click the Run button to begin the installation.

- You will see the window below while the Firefox files are extracted.

- Windows Vista’s and 7′s User Account Control (UAC) security feature will prompt you to allow the Firefox Installer to continue. Click the Yes button.

- When the files have been extracted, click the Next button to start the wizard.

- Choose the Standard installation radio button. Check or uncheck the check box labeled Use Firefox as my default web browser depending on whether or not you would like Firefox to be the default web browser on your computer. Making Firefox the default browser won’t remove your currently installed browser(s), it will just make Firefox open whenever your computer is looking for a browser application to open a web page. Click the Install button.

- You will see the window below while the files are being installed on your computer.

- When the installation completes, click the Finish button. Leave the Launch Firefox now check box checked if you wish to launch Firefox immediately.
