Below are links to the materials, including slide sets, used by instructors of Research Computing tutorials.

At the beginning of the Fall, Spring, and Summer, we offer free Classroom Training to the BU community. Our Fall 2017 tutorials are scheduled and are open for registration, which is free but greatly appreciated. The series runs from September 6 to October 5. There are four brand new tutorials this Fall in addition to our usual offerings. These are Introduction to High-Performance Computing, Managing Projects on the SCC, Python for Data Analysis, and Introduction to ImageJ. Links to the slide sets for each of these tutorials will generally be added to this page shortly before the tutorial is first presented.

If you wish to receive email announcements for future RCS Tutorials, please submit this form.

Note on the Examples Linked to Above

The tutorials examples linked to above were mostly written and tested under Linux OS on the Shared Computing Cluster (SCC). Some of them (R, Python, …) most likely will run under Windows or Mac OS but will likely require you to download and install the required, generally free, software. Other examples (C, Fortran, openGL, openACC, CUDA) might additionally require some minor changes in the code (e.g. headers, files paths), compilation and build directives. If you have questions about porting and building the examples onto a different machine, please contact us at
