IS&T designs, installs, manages, and maintains a robust network infrastructure. We offer wired access with data transfer rates ranging from 10 Mbps through 10 Gbps and wireless access (802.11b/g, 802.11a, and 802.11n) at rates up to 54 Mbps. Our infrastructure ensures that you can easily connect systems to the campus network and use network-based services we provide, such as automatic network configuration (DHCP), finding services (DNS and WINS), and access to a universal network clock (NTP).

Centralizing design, installation, management, and maintenance for the entire network infrastructure ensures homogeneity. All the subnets and components work together in a predictable and reliable manner, providing simplicity, consistency, transparency, and security for everyone, regardless of where they connect to our network. Custom network designs are available to meet any requirements while ensuring interoperability with other parts of the network.
Network-based services allow your systems to configure themselves to use the campus network, find online resources, and maintain accurate system clocks. With a fixed hostname assigned by DNS services, you can provide online content on the Web.
- Easily connect computers and other devices to a reliable wired or wireless network providing access to the Internet and Internet2.
- Take advantage of our custom network design and installation services.
- Automatically configure network settings for computers.
- Manage host names for network-based services.
- Ensure that system clocks keep accurate time.
- Manage domain names, including names ending with .com and .org.
Requirements vary by service. Network connections require a suitable network adapter, and network-based services generally require that a system is connected to the campus network. In some cases, access may be limited to certain portions of the campus network or may require the assistance of your local system administrator to configure.
See the links at the side of this page for detailed descriptions of each service, including requirements, costs, and information on setting up each service.
