The service offering is comprised of three standard configurations plus a custom configuration option. Configurations offer varying feature sets to meet a wide array of client requirements.

  • Students must be sponsored by a faculty member
Benefits Centrally provisioned virtual servers offer flexibility, convenience, rapid deployment, economy, and high reliability and availability. They support sustainability initiatives by optimizing resource utilization and reducing energy consumption.
Key Features x86-based, 32- or 64-bit operating environments are offered, including: 

  • Windows Server 2003
  • Windows Server 2008
  • Red Hat Linux and other Linux variants, including BU Linux
  • Other operating systems on review

Three levels of support are available. Features offered at all levels include:

  • Fault tolerant hardware
  • Base OS installation services
  • IS&T machine-level managed backup

Features available at higher levels of support include:

  • OS patch management
  • Base system monitoring
  • IS&T application-level managed backup
  • Standby resource redundancy
