Below is a list of our supported web browsers for Blackboard Learn users running Windows. We have consistently found that Firefox users encounter fewer issues with Blackboard Learn than those who use other browsers. For any of the supported browsers, we recommend using the latest version of that browser.

  1. Start Internet Explorer from the start menu or your desktop.
  2. Click on either the spool icon in the upper right-hand corner of the browser or the Help menu option from the browser’s main menu.
  3. Click on the last option, About Internet Explorer.

  4. In the window that appears, look for the version information.

  5. If this information contains one of the following;
    • Version: 10.x
    • Version: 9.x
    • Version: 8.x
    You have a compatible version of Internet Explorer.
  6. If this information does NOT contain Version: 8.x or 9.x or 10.x and that version is possible for the version of your Windows operating system, you’ll need to update Internet Explorer or download and install Firefox.

  1. Start Firefox from the start menu or your desktop.
  2. Click on the menu icon located in the upper right-hand corner of the browser.
  3. In the window that appears, click the help menu icon, located towards the bottom of that new window.
  4. In the window that appears, click the About Firefox link.

  5. In the window that appears, look for the version information.

  6. If the version number is less than version 4.0, you will need to update your Firefox browser. We recommend running the latest version of Firefox for security and stability.

  1. Open up your Firefox web browser
  2. Click the orange Firefox icon in the upper left-hand corner of your browser window.

  3. Mouse-over Help > and then click on About Firefox.

  4. You will see a small window showing your browser’s version number. If updates are available a Check for Upates button will be visible. Save any work you may have open as a restart of Firefox will be required. Click this button to update to the latest version of Firefox.

  1. Launch Google Chrome from your desktop or start menu.
  2. Click the Customize and control icon located in the upper right-hand corner of the browser window.
  3. Click About Google Chrome

  4. In the window that appears you’ll see the version number located near the bottom of the page.
