If the system configuration information states:

  • Windows Vista: You may proceed to the RAM section.
  • Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Service Pack 3: You may proceed to the RAM section.
  • Windows XP Service Pack 1: You must download the latest service packs for Windows XP with the Microsoft Windows Update feature before attempting to use Blackboard Vista. After completing the installation, which may require several restarts of your computer, you may proceed to the RAM section.
  • None of the above: If your information does not say “Microsoft Windows XP” or “Windows Vista”, you are using an unsupported version of Windows. Unsupported versions include Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000, and Windows ME.

These unsupported operating systems may work with Blackboard Vista. However, using these older operating systems may cause Blackboard Vista to run slowly, prevent some features from working properly, cause your web browser to crash at frequent intervals, and cause your computer to restart unexpectedly. As a result, you may wish to upgrade your operating system to Windows XP or Windows Vista before continuing. It is important that you first check with your local computer store to see if your current computer hardware will support either Windows XP or Windows Vista.
