Java should be enabled by default in Firefox and Safari. If the Blackboard Vista Browser Check identifies an error with your Java, you can check to make sure that it is enabled by selecting your browser below.

  1. Click the apple icon in the upper left hand corner of your screen.
  2. Click on “Software Update”.

  3. Click “Check for updates now” and allow the page to load.

  4. Look for any updates from Java and install them. You may need to restart your computer.
  5. Ensure that Java is enabled in your web browser (Firefox or Safari).

  1. Launch Firefox from your dock.

  2. Click “Firefox” in the top menu.
  3. Click on the “Preferences” item in the menu.

  4. Click the Content icon and ensure that the “Enable Java” option has been checked.

  5. Close this “Preferences…” window.
  6. Proceed to the Browser Check.

  1. Launch Safari from your dock.

  4. Click the “Security” icon.
