Please note that, while this VPN client is still available, use of AnyConnect¬† via is recommended. If you are unable to use AnyConnect, it’s quite possible that you will also not be able to used the download client outlined below. Feel free to give it a try, but definitely contact us for help if you still can’t get it working.

    1. Do you have an older version of the Cisco VPN client installed already? If so: go to the Control Panel, and select Add and Remove Programs (or “Uninstall Programs” in Vista). Click to remove the older Cisco VPN client. After that, reboot your computer, and you are ready to follow the instructions below.
    2. Click on this link and Save the BU VPN client 5.x install exe file. Save it to the Desktop or a place where you can find it again easily.
    3. When the download completes, open the file you downloaded (BU-VPN5install.exe) to start the installer. Because this is an executable file, Windows may ask your permission to open it. If so, say Yes or OK.
      • Do you get a “DNE Install Error” at the end of the VPN install?
If so, see the DNE Error Fix.
    4. The software is installed! You may now delete the BU-VPN5install.exe file you downloaded, if you wish.

    Make a connection

Now that you have the software installed, please see our illustrated instructions on making your VPN connection.

DNE Error Fix: If you get a DNE Install error, one of these two fixes should work:

    (a) If you have SpySweeper installed, that is likely what is causing the problem. Open SpySweeper and tell it to Shut Down. Then install the VPN software. You can start SpySweeper again after the VPN is installed, or use a different anti-spyware program.

    (b) If you do not have SpySweeper installed, the fix is to (connect via Ethernet and) download and install the latest version of DNE. Then reboot and start the VPN install again.
