Outlook Anywhere allows you to use Outlook to connect to your Exchange server from remote locations without first connecting to the VPN. You can also/alternatively, use Outlook Web Access by logging in at https://xmail.bu.edu/ or www.bu.edu/webmail.

Configuring Outlook Anywhere in Outlook 2010

  1. Go to File -> Info -> Account Settings
  2. Select the Exchange account and then click Change.
  3. Click More Settings, and then go to the Connection tab.
  4. Toward the bottom on the Connection tab, click Exchange Proxy Settings.
  5. Configure the settings exactly as they are shown below and then click on OK to work your way out of the Settings.

Configuring Outlook Anywhere in Outlook 2007 and 2003

  1. Go to Tools -> Account Settings (or, in 2003, Tools->Email Accounts).
  2. Select the Exchange account (or, in 2003, first select View or change existing email accounts and then select the Exchange account) and then click Change.
  3. Click More Settings, and then go to the Connection tab.
  4. Under Outlook Anywhere (or, in 2003, Exchange over the Internet) then select the Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP check box.
  5. To specify a proxy server, click Exchange Proxy Settings.
  6. Configure the settings exactly as they are shown below for Outlook 2007 or 2003 and then click on OK to work your way out of the Settings.
