The Incident Response Team has a collection of software tools that can be used to audit the security of a system connected to the campus network and highlight potential installation and configuration problems. This collection of software can be used to identify vulnerabilities in your system that you are not aware of and prioritize your response efforts based on the threat each vulnerability presents.
When requested by a department, the scans will be scheduled to run manually by IS&T staff. We try to run the scans within 2 business days of a request, but scans may be delayed for a variety of reasons including departmental preference. After making a request, we will work with you to schedule the scan at a mutually agreeable time.
To help easily manage requests for scans and provide the results in a secure and private manner, we have created the Insight Vulnerability Scan Management Console. All departmental administrators are welcome to request an account on the system which will enable them to schedule a scan and view the results. Creating an account is easy, just visit the Insight Console and follow the instructions. Accounts will generally be created within one business day.
The Insight Console is available only to faculty and staff of the University. If you do not meet this requirement but feel you have a legitimate need for the service, please contact the Incident Response Team for assistance.
