The main goal of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) is to ensure the portability of health insurance benefits particularly as individuals move from job to job. Moreover, HIPAA provides regulations for protecting the security of health information that is stored or transmitted electronically.
The privacy of every person’s health information is protected:
