OBJECTIVES: The Innovation Research Program creates opportunities at colleges, universities and research institutes for collaborative research with HP through an annual, open call for proposals.  This year, research topics are: 1) Cloud & Security, 2) Information Analytics, 3) Intelligent Infrastructure, 4) Mobile and Immersive Experience, 5) Nanoelectronics, 6) Printing and Content Delivery, 7) Services Research, 8) Social Computing, and 9) Sustainability.  See detailed RFP: http://www.hpl.hp.com/open_innovation/irp/HPL-IRP2012.pdf

FUNDING INFORMATION: Awards made through this program are intended to provide financial support for a graduate student to assist the Principal Investigator conducting a collaborative research project with HP Labs. Consequently, awards will provide cash support for one year, typically in the range USD $50,000 to $75,000, including any overhead. Larger or partial awards may be made, and awards may be renewed for up to three years, based on research outcomes and HP business needs. Supported projects will be expected to begin in October 2012.

DEADLINES: The 2012 call for proposals has two rounds. In the first round, applicants are asked to submit an abstract of their proposed collaborative research project. All submitted abstracts will be reviewed, and selected authors will be invited to develop and submit a full proposal in the second round.
