Overview Windows Internet Name Service (WINS) is Microsoft’s implementation of NetBIOS Name Service (NBNS). It is a name server for NetBIOS computer names.

Benefits WINS allows Microsoft client computers to contact other computers by resolving a NetBIOS name to a network (IP) address.
