switch from use of 123 to BU (802.1x)

If you had set up your connection to BU's wireless network prior to August, 2008, you might still be using default settings for the (older) 123 SSID, which is scheduled to be disabled in October, 2009. In order to switch to the recommended configuration for use of wireless at BU, please follow the instructions outlined below. Note that, once you are using the BU (802.1x) SSID, you will no longer need to use the VPN for wireless access. However, if your system does not support 802.1x, then you can continue connecting via the VPN by using the BU (requires VPN) SSID.

Set up BU (802.1x):

Follow the setup instructions outlined at www.bu.edu/pcsc/wireless/8021x/.

Note: You are also welcome to use the BU (requires VPN) SSID. However, 802.1x is the better option because (once it's set up) your wireless access will no longer require that you launch additional software. If 802.1x works well on your computer, you will prefer to use it.

Make sure you completed STEP 3 - Set BU (802.1x) as the default SSID:

Within the setup instructions outlined at www.bu.edu/pcsc/wireless/8021x/ make sure you followed STEP 3 - Set 802.1x as the default SSID or BU (requires VPN), if applicable.

In case you did miss that step, here is the information you will need.
