>IT Help Center technical consultant (long term)
Hiring is CLOSED for long term Tech jobs in the IT Help Center (Fall '09).
All IT Help Center Consultants also participate in fall move-in support along with those filling the short term IT Help Center ResNet Technical Consultant positions.
Throughout the year, the IT Help Center employs up to 80 student consultants who answer most of the questions that come into our consulting offices either on the phone* or in-person. These questions cover a broad range and include personal computing software and hardware issues and e-mail account questions and activation. Our consultants will offer assistance in our self-service area, guiding and educating our customers on supporting their own technology. Consultants will also offer support to customers visiting our demo center. Students will work at both the IT Help Center and our new location, the IT Help Center @ Mugar.
IT Help Center Consultants also participate on our move-in support team in the fall, which is a challenging job that looks great on your resume! Our graduates are employed at Microsoft, Google, Apple, Avid and many other companies around the world.
The pay rate for IT Help Center Consultants starts at $10.50 per hour. IT Help Center Consultants also earn small merit increases each semester through the Student Employment Office. This job offers opportunities you won't find anywhere else on campus!
Our main consulting office is temporarily located in the basement of 533 Commonwealth Ave., below Bertucci’s. If you want to know more about what we do, take a look at our Web site at www.bu.edu/tech/help.
*Solid English language skills and the ability to communicate clearly on the telephone and in-person are requirements of all IT Help Center positions.
>other technical support positions on-campus
At times, other technical support groups on-campus request our assistance in locating strong, technically qualified students to fill open positions in their groups or departments. Some questions on the application are geared for these positions. If you note your interest in other possible job openings, you may be contacted by other student managers from outside of Information Technology.
Please e-mail Linda Jerrett at ljerrett@bu.edu for more information about these opportunities.
