This is a great utility from cnet.com that will analyze your computer hardware and software and provide detailed information about its ability to run Vista. Note that you will be asked to download a "secure ActiveX/Java utility that you can easily uninstall when the analysis is complete." - Microsoft's Vista Upgrade Advisor
This utility is included on the Vista install CD but you can also download it here. "This small software tool will scan your computer and create an easy-to-understand report of all known system, device, and program compatibility issues, and recommend ways to resolve them."
