Setting up your Canon Printer - Windows Vista and XP

** Do not plug the printer into the computer via USB untill the software asks you to**

Step 1: Insert the CD into your computer. If the software does not start on its own, go to My Computer > F:\ (or whatever your CD drive is) > and run the file MSETUP4.

NOTE: you may see this window if you are on Windows Vista, if you do, press Run Msetup4.exe.

 

Step2 : When this spalsh screen loads, choose Custom Install.

 

Step 3: Put a check in the boxes show below for Printer Driver, On-screen Manual, My Printer, Solution Menu, and Adobe RGB (1998). Easy-PhotoPrint EX is optional... After selecting the software you want, press Next to continue.

 

Step 4: Press Yes to agree to the License Agreement and continue with the installation.

Step 5: You will see the following progress window while it is installing the software you selected. This will take a few moments.

 

Step 6: If you selected the Adobe RGB (1998) to be installed as sugested, this window will show up. Press Yes to agree to the License Agreement.

 

Step 7: Now its time to plug your printer into your computer via USB. Make sure that it is powered on at this point, and the software should auto detect the printer and continue with the installation.

 

Step 8: After restarting, this window will pop up. Make sure the printer is still connected and has at least 2 pieces of paper loaded in the rear tray, then press Execute to start the print head alignment.

 

Step 9: In this smaller window that pops up, press Print Head Alignment.

NOTE: This takes a few minutes. It is going to print on a sheet, and pull it in and out of the printer a few times. It may seem like it is done at certain points, but do not turn off the printer or touch the paper until both pages have been printed on and the printer is no longer doing anything.

 

Step 10: This window will be displayed while the printer is aligning the print head.

 

Step 11: This screen will show up, displaying all the installed software. Press Next to continue.

 

Step 12: The User Registration is optional, so you can just press Cancel, or if you want to you could press Next to do it now. You can also register any time by clicking the Canon iP4500 series User Registration icon that the software will put on your desktop.

 

Step 13: This survey is also not optional... Press Do not agree to skip this part.

 

Step 14: Your installation is now complete, press Exit to exit the software. Your printer is now ready to use!
