Setting up your Canon iP4500 in Mac OS X
** Do not plug the printer into the computer via USB until the software asks you to**
Step 1: Insert the CD that came with the printer. If it does not start on its own, double-click the icon in the Finder to open this window, then double-click the Setup.app file.

Step 2: Enter the username and password for your computer when prompted and then press OK.

Step 3: When this screen loads, choose Custom Install.

Step 4: Place a check next to Printer Driver and On-screen Manual as show below. (Easy-PhotoPrint Ex is not needed for the printer.) After putting a check next to what you want to install, click OK.

Step 5: Press Yes to agree to the License Agreement.

Step 6: You will see the following two windows with status bars as it installs the sofware you selected. This may take a moment.

Step 7: Now you need to setup the printer. Press the Execute button to start the setup process.

Step 8: Now it's time to plug the printer into your computer via USB. Make sure it is plugged in and powered on, and then press the Restart button. This is going to restart your computer and then continue with the setup process.

Step 9: After restarting, this window will pop up. Make sure the printer is still connected and has at least 2 pieces of paper loaded in the rear tray, then press OK to start the print head alignment.
NOTE: This takes a few minutes. It is going to print on a sheet, and pull it in and out of the printer a few times. It may seem like it is done at certain points, but do not turn off the printer or touch the paper until both pages have been printed and the printer is no longer doing anything.

Step 10: Now the Setup is complete. Press Next to continue.

Step 11: The printer should be ready for use now. Press Exit to close the instialltion program.
