alternatives to excel
Excel is the spreadsheet supported by the IT Help Center, so if you want to be assured of local technical support, you probably want to choose Excel.
However, individual staff members at the IT Help Center have taken a look at the alternatives and we encourage you to try them if you are interested.
- Calc is part of the free OpenOffice suite, available for Windows or Macintosh (on the Mac you must run it within an X11 window).
- Numbers 08 ("Spreadsheets the Mac way") is part of iWork 08. As the slogan suggests, it is only available for Macintosh. A free trial downoad is available.
