Date: Thu, 26 Aug 2010 13:16:06 -0400 From: Wayne Gilmore Subject: Katana Linux Cluster large memory nodes now available. We're pleased to announce the addition of two new large memory nodes to the SCF Katana Linux Cluster. Each node contains two quad-core Intel Nehalem processors (X5570), 96GB of main memory, and 251GB of scratch disk space. They are interconnected via 40Gb/s Infiniband for MPI communication. Due to the larger main memory size these nodes will have a charge rate of 2.4 SUs. This charge rate will take effect on September 1st. You must use the following qsub option to request these nodes: -l memory=96G And, like the other X5570 nodes, these new nodes will only be available to jobs using the following PE specifications: omp 8 mpi_8_tasks_per_node N mpi_8_procs_per_task N where N is 8 or 16. See http://www.bu.edu/tech/research/computation/linux-cluster/katana-cluster/runningjobs/ for a complete description of the batch system. Please report any problems to help@katana.bu.edu.
