Student Purchases
The IT Help Center maintains an Authorized Apple Campus Store and demo center showcasing a selection of Dell, HP, and Lenovo systems recommended by Boston University. These vendors offer educational prices through their BU affiliate sites. You also can purchase Adobe and Microsoft software at educational prices, exclusively for Boston University students. You may visit our sales area during IT Help Center business hours, or make purchases at any time through the links provided at www.bu.edu/tech/desktop/purchase/personal/shop/.
- What kind of computer should I buy? The IT Help Center fully supports both Microsoft Windows and the Mac OS, along with the commonly-used software listed at www.bu.edu/tech/desktop/support/software/. Most people use a notebook computer, but the BU community is evenly split across platforms. Unless your academic program has specified otherwise, we recommend you simply purchase the computer you are most comfortable using.
