Documentation and Training
There are a variety of documentation and training resources readily available to help you maximize your productivity on the Scientific Computing Facility and other facilities you may use for your research computing activities. Many documents, tutorials, and presentations were developed by SCV staff and are specific to Boston University installations. There are also materials developed by vendors and researchers. SCV staff are available to assist when needed.
Software Help Pages
This comprehensive set of software help pages includes information specifically written for getting started on the SCF systems. Most of the software packages run on the Linux clusters, but some also or only run on Windows or Mac systems.
SCV offers a Tutorial Series three times each year covering Research Computing Basics, Computer Programming, High Performance Computing, Mathematics and Data Analysis, and Visualization. Announcements are sent out at the beginning of each semester and Summer I with the specific offerings and schedule. On request, SCV staff will customize tutorials for courses, seminars, or groups.
Self paced tutorials developed by SCV staff, NCSA, vendors, and others are available.
Over the years, SCV staff have created presentations for workshops, seminars, or other special events. The Powerpoint slides, web pages and other materials may be useful references.
