5th Annual CISE Award at the 2008 BU Science and Engineering Research Symposium

Quan Yuan (pictured here) won the CISE Award for his poster entitled “Multiplicative Kernels: Object Detection, Segmentation and Pose Estimation.” Quan is a graduate student in the Computer Science Department advised by Professor Stan Sclaroff.
Minyi Zhong of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department earned his honorable mention for his poster entitled “Distributed Coverage Control in Sensor Network Environments with Polygonal Obstacles.” He is advised by Professor Christos Cassandras.
Boyan Yordanov of the Biomedical Engineering Department was awarded an honorable mention for his poster entitled “Formal Analysis and Parameter Synthesis for Piece Affine Systems.” He is advised by Assistant Professor Calin Belta.
Entries were judged on research quality (depth and development of research ideas, and novelty and broad impact of the work), presentation quality, and the extent of student ownership in the research.
