OLD_Computational Biology


The Computational Biology group uses methods from computer science, applied mathematics, and statistics to expand research efforts into bioinformatics, genome mapping, protein structure prediction, and biomodeling among other research areas. This research has applications in scientific computing, protein engineering, drug design, and gene networking.

Faculty in this research area include: Calin Belta, Ioannis Paschalidis and Sandor Vajda.

The overarching goal of this research is to develop interdisciplinary methods to simplify biological modeling and to allow for the expansion of research efforts in many areas of biological research.

Current research by CISE faculty focuses on protein modeling, gene and metabolic networks, and optimizing modeling methodology.
