Terms and Conditions
- CSLG participants will be charged and agree to pay
an annual CSLG participation fee. Notification of
charges will be made via the Cost Recover letters
sent to participants in the last quarter of the fiscal
year. These payments must be made within the current
fiscal year.
- To be eligible for the CSLG, each system must have
a legal Digital (Commercial) Standard Operating System
License appropriate for the system configuration.
The CSLG product portfolios do not include any initial
operating system licenses. Excluded are: any Traditional
License, any initial Operating System User License,
any Operating System Base License, or any SMP Extension
License to the Operating System Base License.
- CSLG Licenses have a one-year renewable term.
- CSLG Licenses cannot be transferred or sublicensed.
- CSLG Licenses may only be used by authorized personnel
of BU that are either a faculty member, registered
student, employee, academic guest, visiting researcher
under contract to BU, or research collaborator under
written agreement with BU. The contract or written
agreement must specify the academic nature of the
work being performed and that such collaborator will
be bound by the terms of the Agreement.
- Use of the campuswide licenses is limited to research,
academic, administrative, educational, and personal
use purposes. Campuswide licenses cannot be used for
commercial or income purposes.
- OpenVMS V5.0 or greater is required for OpenVMS
and OpenVMS Layered Product support in the CSLG Program.
- CSLG OpenVMS,and CSLG Tru64can only be used to increase
the number of "users" on the system.
- Only those systems owned by, leased by, granted
to, or on loan from HP/Compaqto BU are eligible to
use the CSLG Licenses.
- CSLG PAKs or the CSLG License Database cannot be
disseminated, reissued, copied, or posted.
- Campuswide licenses provide rights to all versions
of software which are current during the annual license
period.
- HP/Compaq reserves the right to remove software
products from the Campuswide Software License Grant
Program at any time due to product retirement or other
reasons, and provides no assurance that any product
will continue to remain in the program. Boston University
may continue to use a product that has been removed
from the program for the remainder of its current
CSLG term.
- Once a product is removed from its respective portfolio,
and no longer a part of any portfolio purchased by
the institution, each member has the option to purchase
the commercial license at the then current educational
discount.
- Media and documentation is not included under the
Campuswide Software License Grant Program.
- Software Support Service (SSS) and Layered Product
Support (LPS) services are not included in the Campuswide
Software License Grant Program.
- System Startup Packages (SSP's) cannot be combined
with the Campuswide Software License Grant program.
