Use PatchAlert, a package for Suns that you can pick
up by contacting
OIT.
PatchAlert comes with three scripts and a Patch Exclude
file. The first script, PatchAlert.on, runs
out of root's crontab and mails the system administrator
a list of patch numbers that should be installed.
The system administrator can then call a second script,
EZpatchInstaller, to install the patches. If
comfortable with automatic patch installations, the
admin can invoke a third script, PatchManager,
to install patches according to his / her own schedule.
There are currently 135 systems running these programs.
The latest versions are: PatchAlert.on: 3.4.2,
EZpatchInstaller 1.7.2, and PatchManager-1.2.
