The OIT Application Server
The OIT Application Server is available to machines
running Solaris, IRIX, and BU Linux . It uses a robust
service called OpenAFS to transparently share read-only
programs to hundreds of machines on campus. OpenAFS
gives users access to commercial software licensed to
Boston University, such as Matlab, Mathematica, S-Plus,
and Maple. The Application Server also makes available
lots of shareware / freeware that the Office of Information
Technology has compiled in response to popular demand,
as well as custom BU programs that help us maintain
a consistent and secure computing environment.
The OIT Application Server comes with the network installation
of BU Solaris, BU IRIX, and BU Linux. If you don't see
