The Unix/Linux Application Server

The Unix/Linux Application Server is available to machines running Solaris and BU Linux . It uses a robust service called OpenAFS to transparently share read-only programs to hundreds of machines on campus. OpenAFS gives users access to commercial software licensed to Boston University, such as Matlab, Mathematica, S-Plus, and Maple. The Application Server also makes available lots of shareware / freeware that the Information Services & Technology has compiled in response to popular demand, as well as custom BU programs that help us maintain a consistent and secure computing environment.
