About

Information Services & Technology helps install and configure UNIX / Linux systems running BU Linux (based on fully patched Centos 4 or 5), Solaris, and MacOS X. The operating systems we help configure offer:

  • department mail servers (Solaris, CentOS)
  • mail clients (Solaris, CentOS, Mac OS)
  • nfs, nis (Solaris, CentOS, Mac OS)
  • afs clients (Solaris, CentOS, Mac OS)
  • directory services (Solaris, CentOS)
  • e-mail virus protection (Solaris, CentOS)
  • network -licensed programs, such as Matlab, Mathematica, Splus, etc. (Solaris, CentOS, Mac OS)
  • popular programs, compiled and/or installed by OIT admins (Solaris, CentOS)
  • tools that fix security problems automically (CentOS) (or semi-automatically (Solaris))

Network installations are easily downloaded. Install BU Linux and Solaris 10 (x86 & Sparc) quickly, knowing that the operating system is configured to be more secure than what would be installed as out-of-the-box software. BU Linux and Solaris offer ways to stay up-to-date, with a minimum of oversight.

You'll have access to software IS&T admins maintain, which will greatly lighten your work load. Hundreds of programs are available, none of which you are required to purchase or keep up-to-date. Matlab, Splus, Mathematica, Maple, Tex, plus much more is available.

As a member of the BU community, contact us and we'll help you get started on your installation.
