Darling Harbour

Just a fifteen-minute walk from BUSAC, Darling Harbour and the Darling Quarter are wonderful places to spend an afternoon. Built on the site of a once dilapidated wharf area, this park and exhibition centre has evolved to become a hub of family entertainment and special events. There are countless shops and restaurants as well as free concerts and festivals on during the weekends.

Highlights:

Sea Life Sydney Aquarium

Situated at the far end of Darling Harbour, the Aquarium is one of the largest in the world and features an array of indigenous aquatic animals. The two underwater exhibits offer rare opportunities to “walk beneath the sea” and view sharks, dugongs, and stingrays close up.

Wildlife Sydney Zoo

This attraction is home to the largest collection of Australia’s flora and fauna under one roof. If you can’t make it to the outback you can still see (and in some instances touch) over 6,000 species in 9 different ecosystems.

Australian National Maritime Museum

This high-tech museum takes a historical and comparative view of both white Australian and Aboriginal journeys to conquer the sea. The museum’s permanent exhibits pay tribute to the whaling industry and the nation’s naval history.
