Net Impact Undergrad

It takes over 6.5 million trees to produce the 16 billion paper cups that are used each year by Americans alone. Hug a Mug is an annual BU campus-wide initiative run by the Net Impact student organization that strives to educate students, faculty, and staff about the immense paper cup waste that is produced every year on campus and around the country.

  • By using a reusable mug when you purchase a beverage, participants receive $0.25 discount at all participating BU coffee shops (and all year long). During the campaign, download the sustainability@BU app and buzz the “Hug a Mug” action.
  • By committing to use a reusable mug enough times in your daily routine, users can achieve the Net Impact Hug a Mug badge via app and be entered to win a fantastic grand prize from Net Impact. Use your reusable mug anywhere on campus, but particularly at the GSU Starbucks or Questrom Starbucks. At those locations you could interact directly with the Net Impact Executive Board who will be giving away sustainability@BU travel mugs for free.

The BU Net Impact Undergrad Chapter is part of a global membership connecting students with professionals using business skills and resources to make a positive impact on society and the environment. During the year Net Impact hosts educational events, on- and off-campus initiatives, volunteer work, and networking opportunities. The group hopes to inspire and prepare future leaders to act responsibly and recognize their impact on society and the environment.
