Branch Out

Branch Out

Branch Out connects students with opportunities to learn about and be stewards of Boston’s urban ecosystem. Volunteers will engage in service for the people, plants, animals, and public spaces of Boston while building community on campus and in the city.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED
Branch Out has service events on the weekend and educational meetings during the week before each event. Branch Out service projects are designed as one-time-events that you can attend as your schedule allows. New volunteers are always welcome, no experience needed! Just show up! So far this semester we have volunteered by planting trees in Dorchester, starting a native plant garden in Allston, removing invasive species from the Charles, and restoring clam populations in Hingham.

Wash Clothes in Cold Water

Most of the energy used to wash clothes, around 90%, comes from heating the water, which is why the US Department of Energy recommends that clothes be washed in cold water, using cold-water detergents when possible.
