Sustainability Interns

sustainability@BU hires student interns to join our team and help reduce Boston University’s environmental footprint. Interns in our office work on a number of challenging and important projects and programs, such as STARS reporting, metrics management, Green Office Certification, green building projects, communications planning, events management, and social media outreach.

If you are a current BU student and have a passion for creating a more sustainable future consider joining us. If you are interested, please fill out our online application, or apply through the CAS On-Campus Internship Program. We do have a waiting list, and typically fill positions at the beginning of each term.

Resident Sustainability Leaders

In support of Boston University’s Climate Action Plan, sustainability@BU is launching a new Resident Sustainability Leaders (RSL) program, beginning with a pilot at Warren Towers for Academic Year 2019-2020.

The RSL program is a 20-hour per week, year-long commitment to promote sustainability in dorms and provide support to residents on sustainability subjects ranging from recycling to energy, water, waste, and more.

Could this be for you?

We are seeking students who will be our partners in piloting and learning from this experience in order to build a robust program in dorms across campus in the coming years.

We are seeking candidates who are:

  • Rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors with a deep commitment to sustainability and to the BU community.
  • Students whose personal sustainability experiences are an important part of their lives and who can share their interests and enthusiasm while also acting as a resource for other students.

Applications will be available on our website the week of March 25 and will be accepted through mid-April. The selected students will take part in training this summer and will be compensated via free room and board. We encourage interested students to join us for an Info Session on Monday, March 25 at 7:00 pm at the Academy Room (room 124) of the George Sherman Union (GSU). Please contact us with any questions.

Sustainability Ambassadors

They provide information about sustainability resources on campus, through a combination of information learned and their own personal experiences. In addition to understanding sustainability resources at the University, the Sustainability Ambassador position requires excellent verbal and social media communication, interpersonal, time-management, team building, and leadership skills.

The Sustainability Ambassador position is part of the Summer Leadership team through BU Orientation. Please visit BU Orientation to apply. Stay tuned for a lineup of our Summer Leadership team for 2019.
